We Shipped an LCP of 0.9s on Shopify Plus. Here’s How.

Shopify Plus is the best commerce backend in the world. It is also, by default, one of the slower storefronts once you stack apps, tracking and a themed PDP.

On Northwind we targeted a 1.2s LCP and hit 0.9s. Three decisions mattered: (1) moving to a headless Next.js front-end on Vercel Edge; (2) streaming the PDP above the fold; and (3) replacing six tracking apps with a single server-side Pixel + GA4.

The bit nobody warns you about: cart state is the hardest part of going headless. Plan for cross-subdomain cookies, abandoned-cart sync and a fallback to the native Shopify checkout from day one.
